THE DREW REVIEW: Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

drew-reviewDrew's Review: “What a book can do, however, and what this one will try to accomplish, is to present examples of how life can be made more enjoyable, ordered in the framework of a theory, for reader to reflect upon and from which they may then draw their own conclusions.” – M. Csiksgentmihalyi

9230371d-26a4-4e9f-8425-bed0bfb5bb6eI know what you’re thinking; yes that is actually the author’s name. As his name would have you suggest this is an extremely deep and challenging book to read. The psychology background and depth provided in this book is beyond any working knowledge I ever had on the subject, but M.C. does a terrific job in walking the reader through the vast array of examples and concepts to help relay the message. This book is all about the “optimal experience” or in simpler terms; how people obtain happiness in their lives. When you read this book you have to have an open mind and willing to reread a chapter from time to time. For someone in the strength and conditioning realm, this book will help you refocus your life and help you discover what really is important.
