Today we are joined by assistant professor of strength and conditioning and the coordinator for athletic performance services at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Dr. Jay Dawes. In the talk we start with a brief run down of his career to date and get into the Masters program and how it’s set up. We then talk about how his work in the “tactical” realm has impacted how he looks at the programming with his student athletes, and how his tenure in Corpus Christi has helped him with his decision making strategies. He then talks about building resilience with the tactical athlete and how he looks at them from “hired to retired”. Next he discusses ways to get the athlete’s to take more ownership of the room by “running the room” themselves. We finish off talking about how he uses simple and common pieces of technology to help assist the athlete’s learning, and close discussing the books he has out. Check those out below:
