My Thoughts Monday #3: Dr. Bryan Mann- Be Realistic

Bryan"We have to stop and think and be realistic with ourselves about how many times we are actually dealing with freaks who are both completely advanced trained and elite level athletes."

In today’s edition of My Thoughts Monday Dr. Bryan Mann discusses preparedness with us, and gives advices to coaches on how and when to look at using more advanced methods with their athletes.

He starts out with anecdotical examples as to why, in his opinion, simpler may be better. When it comes to developing many of the athlete's we work with there needs to be reasons for coaches to implement more advanced means. All to often it is just because we, as coaches, may be bored.

He then touches upon exact work he's doing with athlete's at the present moment. This includes where some adaptations to his programing can come from when athlete's start to move forward.

Dr. Mann finishes off discussing the role of testing in all of this. He talks about the role of tests when it comes to moving the athlete forward and gives some examples of tests he's used. Bryan also shares the why's to each test he selected, and how they drive decisions.
