Episode 138-Justin Kavanaugh, Sport and Speed Institute- Sniffing Out The B.S.

“I’m a big believer in intent matters the most. We aren’t judged on our intent, we are judged on our actions, but the intention is what’s going to maintain the relationship for a long period of time. Because even if, for some reason, you’re working with somebody and it doesn’t work out, if your intention was only to help or your intention was always positive then you’ll always be able to fall back on the fact that you did right by them. Maybe the end result wasn’t what you wanted but at the end of the day you didn’t screw somebody over.”

Today we are joined by The Sport and Speed Institute’s Justin Kavanaugh to talk training, coaching, business, and filtering through the noise. After a brief intro Coach Kav breaks down how he’s built his filter and how it all started with his family and the brutal honesty of his parents, and has led to how he looks at training, relationships, and business. The conversation then leads to educating yourself and your staff and how being invested in that is exceptionally important to how you handle your athletes. We then discuss what leads to winning, and what he sees as the most important factors in winning. We then get into training and some things that he does to build buy in with athletes ranging from high school to the pros.
